Yesterday we received a well timed package from an unsuspected giver: Mary Williams a.k.a Grammy, Peter's step-grandmother who lives in Philadelphia sent some books to Candace to pass along to the boys for Christmas. This is Jacob's introduction to the Wizard of Oz and the Emerald City in a magical pop-up book that is filled with endless surprises. It was just such a surprise gift, and so thoughtful to know that these boys of the next generation of "Williams" are in her thoughts. We do not have very much contact with her, mostly because Peter doesn't really have much of a relationship with her. But it was a good reminder to me to write to my own Grampa, who is actually often in my thoughts.
Jacob wanted to sew a rainbow pillow of course...so we did. The project fervor still alive and well!! We searched through my fabric scraps for some of each color - he chose each one. I think he did a great job! He made the pattern on construction paper. We cut out each line on the paper first, then out of fabric. He wanted them to be in the "right" order, so he would run to the playroom to check a toy wooden rainbow we have to see what color came next. The whole thing is about 10 inches long. They sewed together a bit lumpy and bumpy because of our design, but in the end he was very pleased with the finished product. On the back he chose soft flannel. It is pretty darn cute!
Of course we had to go rent the movie to top off all this Rainbowness. Scotty has been cackling like a witch all afternoon since the Wicked Witch of the West first appeared in Munchkin land. He loved it.
