First Day of School

This morning when I went to wake the boys up for their first day of school they were already sitting on the couch! Very excited, Jacob even slept in his new clothes so he wouldn't have to change. Michael was ready to lead the way and protectively show Jacob the ropes at school - accepting his job of escorting Jacob to and from his classroom from the drop off / pick up. He told me this morning he would always be nice to him at school - either wave, tickle or give him bones. Of course we walked them in on the first day. Michael got his first locker, Jacob began his first long day of school as a kindergartener. Scotty said, "Thank you for inviting me to your school!"
End of the day reports:
Michael LOVED hot lunch - cheese quesadillas, grapes, salsa, salad. They even used real silverware and trays in the new dining hall (the school has just been remodeled). Wished dad could experience how fun the new playground is. Played frisbee on the field with Jack at recess. Had his first science class with the science teacher - who is a real scientist. And his teacher is very nice.
Jacob met a new friend Isaiah, who was nervous at first but Jacob decided to help him feel better. They played super-hero at recess. He had his first PE class and ran on the new field. He didn't drink his juice box at lunch because he wanted to try their cold water (he asked the lunch lady if it was very cold and she said yes). At closing circle time each child had to say what they liked best about their first day and he said: the bathroom! ...hmmmmm .... no potty jokes at school! He said, "But mom, it made all the kids laugh and even both teachers!"
