Recognizing Christ

Peter learned to love this book, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe from his mother.  The fireplace in their living room bears the words "Cair Paravel" the name of the castle of the Kings and Queens in the golden age of Narnia.  She has a lamppost in their yard like the one Lucy finds as she enters Narnia the first time...and probably more things that I do not know about.  There are so many symbols in this book by C.S. Lewis, and I hardly know anything about them.

Peter just finished reading this version to our boys at night.  When he was reading aloud the part of the book where Aslan, the Lion, is being lead to his death Michael started to recognize the story.  He interrupted Peter to say, "This sounds just like when Jesus was about to be crucified."  And he was right!  Both seek comfort of close friends, both are tortured and suffer ridicule, both are tied down and cruelly killed, both bodies are taken care of by friends, and most importantly both come back alive.  This of course is the exact allegory that Lewis was writing of.  

I am just loving that Michael knows this story of Christ so well, and recognizes truth when he hears it.
