Celebration!

We celebrated the first day of school with our feast!  (an idea I stole from a mommy blogger a couple years ago...and my kids LOVE it).  A little bit of cute stationary from my box, the china and fance glasses, yummy kid food, tasty dessert and call it a party!  It doesn't take much to thrill their little hearts and make a night special.
This years theme:  'by small and simple things, are great things brought to pass' Alma 37:6.   Our family had a great discussion through out dinner about this teaching - What small things can we do that make big differences in other peoples lives during this school year?  What small things can we learn each day at school that will grow our minds?  we decided we will talk about these things at dinner each night.  We learned about a woman named Mother Theresa.  She said, "In this life we cannot do great things, we can only do small things with great love."
small animals paraded across our table
We talked about how Heavenly Father created each animal.  Each animal is here on earth to do their own small, important part.
Colin thinks we should set the table with animals every night.
Peter made balloon crowns for all the boys.
Yummy drinks in fancy cups made the party feel fancy.
We ended the night with new books - of course.  Because it is all for school - hee hee - I find any excuse.
