Over the weekend we took the whole family to Palo Alto for the weekend so Peter could swim in Sharkfest. 800+ swimmers jump in the water at Alcatraz and race 1.5 miles to Aquatic Park on the shore of San Francisco. He joined Team Hydro - a team of many swimmers that are friends of Kate Finlayson who died this year from a lifetime battle with hydrocephalus. The swimmers raised money for research, and then jumped in the water!
From the Osborn family, Peter, Greg, Sam and Peter Munzig all swam. I took the boys up with all the other family to wait on the finish line at the beach. Peter came in #24 out of all the 800 swimmers! He was the winner of his age group as well. He thought the two swimmers he was following were the Finlayson brothers, BUT they turned out to be current Cal water polo players (also swimming with the pink team swim cap). Peter practiced only one week for this swim. When he heard his results, I saw that gleam of competition over take his whole body!! He claimed he is going to win the whole thing NEXT YEAR! Guess we are going back. Fun!
