The first day of Christmas vacation. Jacob and Michael ask me first thing
in the morning - what projects do I have in store ?! We try to do one
fun craft per day until Christmas. Everyone loves this tradition. This will include making brother
gifts in the next few days. Anticipation for Christmas morning grows as
each day of crafting unfolds.
Today we made prints. I cut the tops off of styrofoam take-out boxes.
The boys drew on them with a blunt pencil - leaving a deep groove as
they drew. Next they chose red or green paint to roll on the drawing.
Turning it over onto paper, we rolled a small rolling pin over the print
to extract the most paint. Voila - pull the paper off and we had a
lovely print. Scotty particularly loved this project - mastering the
technique and printing all his own.
I love the scattered mess of creativity. The project was simple, active, creative and colorful. All the prints are now hanging along the top of the kitchen window. Next we made Candace's famous cheese cake and allergy-friendly coconut pudding for Colin. Dessert on a Monday night! It must be vacation!!
