Future Biologist

Scotty drew a picture on the board - one small green circle, one larger red circle and a black blob all inside 2 red lines.  He asked me what I thought it was a drawing of?  No idea. 

"A red blood cell, a white blood cell and a platelet!" 

What?!  Did I hear that right?

He then went on to label each cell and tell me its function [he labeled the red & white blood cells backwards because there was more room to write that way!  ...which of course makes sense to a kindergartener].

He then diagrammed a white blood cell meeting a germ it has never known before.  The germ multiplied and he drew many copies of that same germ.  Then he drew a germ that the white blood cell already knew - and the cell ate the germ. 

Mrs. Perkins is an amazing science teacher at Waterford for grades K-3.  Scotty and Jacob look forward to their science days all week.  She is an incredible woman, and knows how to teach to each age level in a particularly interesting way.  Rabbits hop around the room freely as she teaches - and usually hang out by Jacob.  I love that these boys love learning from her so much.
